Salinity Changes in Florida Bay

South Florida Hybrid Coordinate Ocean Model (SoFLA-HYCOM)
Salinity Changes in Florida Bay

SoFLA model results are employed to elucidate the influence of regional rivers on the salinity of Florida Bay and to provide the complex circulation surrounding Florida Bay and the Florida Keys, in support of the Comprehensive Everglades restoration Plan CERP.

Low salinity intrusion in Florida Bay during the Dry Season

DESCRIPTION:
Low salinity during the dry season due to intrusion from the SW Florida Shelf results in alleviation of the hyper-salinity conditions inside Florida Bay. The Florida Keys passages promote interactions between Florida Bay and the Atlantic Shelf waters.
