REAL TIME 7-day Forecasts around South Florida and Florida Straits
DESCRIPTION: The Florida Straits, South Florida and Keys Hybrid Coordinate Ocean Model (FKeyS-HYCOM) has been utilized for the 7-day forecast system, which provides forecast of all hydrodynamic variables through the water column. DISCLAIMER: This is a research product and the University of Miami bears no responsibility for model uncertainties influencing the forecast fields. The following four fields are being updated daily; several other fields can be made available (request to vkourafalou@rsmas.miami.edu). Sea Surface Height and Surface Currents

RESOLUTION: 1/100 degrees (~900m), 26 vertical levels (sigma/z-coordinate in the upper model layers and near the shelf and isopycnic coordinate in deep waters).
NESTED: Yes
OUTER MODELS: Gulf of Mexico (GoM-HYCOM)
DATA ASSIMILATION: No Data Assimilation
FORCING: NCEP Global Forecast System (GFS, 0.25o). It forecasts out to 180 hours.
