West Florida Shelf Hybrid Coordinate Ocean Model Domains (WFS-HYCOM)

DESCRIPTION:

The West Florida Shelf (WFS) HYCOM is run in two domains. The larger curvilinear domain was developed by the University of South Florida Ocean Modeling and Prediction Group to facilitate collaborative studies and the smaller rectangular domain to facilitate evaluation of open ocean boundary conditions. The figure shows both domains with nesting boundaries (dashed), the 20, 50, and 100m isobaths, and Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler moorings C10-C19 from the USF Coastal Ocean Monitoring and Prediction System (COMPS) used to evaluate model runs.

RESOLUTION:

2-6 km curvilinear, ~3.5km rectangular, 26 vertical levels (isopycnic/z-coordinate in deep water, z coordinates over shelf)
