Northern Aegean Sea Hybrid Coordinate Ocean Model (NAS-HYCOM)

DESCRIPTION: The North Aegean model domain and bathymetry (contours in m). Major islands, sub-basins and gulfs are shown. The North Aegean domain occupies the northeastern part of Eastern Mediterranean, between Greece and Turkey.
RESOLUTION: 1/50 degree, 20 vertical levels (sigma/z-coordinate in the upper model layers and near the shelf and isopycnic coordinate in deep waters)
NESTED: Yes
OUTER MODELS: MED-HYCOM 1/25 degree Mediterranean Sea HYCOM with the Navy Coupled Ocean Data Assimilation (NCODA) system (collaboration with NRL-SSC)
DATA ASSIMILATION: NO
FORCING: Navy Operational Global Atmospheric Prediction System NOGAPS (1/2o), POSEIDON / SKIRON System (1/10o)
